In a significant operation, law enforcement in Maharashtra's Palghar district confiscated 10 kilograms of marijuana, valued at approximately two lakh rupees. This operation led to the arrest of two individuals, as reported by officials on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint on June 13 along the Vikramgad-Jawhar Road in the village of Yashwantnagar, where they stopped a car carrying two suspects.
According to a statement released by the police, a search of the vehicle uncovered 10.258 kilograms of marijuana hidden inside. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around ₹2,05,160.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Satish Wagh, aged 52, and Sagar Balsane, aged 29, both residents of the Kumbharwada area in Nashik. Additionally, the police have impounded their vehicle.
The statement further indicated that charges have been filed against the suspects under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the marijuana and its intended recipient.
